How To Keep Your Ceiling Light Fittings Clean And Sparkling

After choosing the right ceiling light fittings for your premises, you’ll want to do what you can to keep them looking good. This can take a little more thought than using a standard cleaning product on them, as solutions can be abrasive on the metals. 

Here are a few tips to help you care for your stylish lights.

Clean cloth

It sounds too simple to be true, but most of the time, you just need a clean cloth to bring your light fittings back to life. Chemical cleaners can strip the metal or its protective coating, so it is best to avoid these. 

Instead, get a lint-free cloth and wipe your lamps down regularly. For a more thorough clean, damp the cloth and wipe the fittings down carefully. 

Lint roller for shades

If you have fabric lampshades over your bulbs, it is important to take good care of these. The best thing to do is use a lint roller to remove any dust. If they are sewn together, these can be cleaned with soapy water. 

Remove chandeliers

Chandeliers are perhaps the most difficult light fitting to clean, so it is important to take your time with it. Remove and wipe down each bulb while placing crystals in warm, soapy water. Once they have been cleaned, dry them quickly and carefully before reassembling. 

If you can’t remove the bulbs or crystals or wouldn’t know how to put them back together, you can use an extendable duster instead. Should this fail to remove the dust, you can try spraying canned air.
